Thank you for visiting my website. This is a personal site where I gather together and organize bits and pieces of my life, thoughts and actions. My hope is that over time the site will not only reflect my outer self but maybe provide clues as to who the man really is. I disagree with “no man is an island.” Every man is an island and it is our responsibility to build bridges to one another even across the generations. This site is an attempt to build a time-bridge between me and my young daughters. Between me as an adult in his prime in 2008 and they as adults in their prime in 2033.
Genesis
This website started as a book of advice to my daughters. I’ve been collecting ideas to include in the book for the past three years but somewhere along the line I realized I would never write the book. My thinking is hyperlinked and mostly subconscious by nature. Writing a book is a linear and very conscious act. I could probably write a decent, though boring, “Jim’s Advice to His Young Daughters” type book using a header and bullet approach but I wouldn’t really be satisfied with it unless it turned out like Pascal’s Pensées. At some point, I realized I’m not Blaise Pascal and decided a web site better fit my natural thinking.
